history
The town's bathing system is old: the “balanea” of La Bourboule were mentioned as early as the early 15th century . In the 19th century the place experienced the rise to a famous health resort; a first spa was opened in 1821. Today's thermal buildings can be found on the river banks, connected by several bridges. The spa park and two casinos from the 19th century complement the spa town. Two springs with a low arsenic content are used for therapeutic purposes for skin and respiratory diseases: the 60 ° C Choussy Perrière spring and the Fenêstre spring , which is only 20 degrees warm . They also specialize in children's cures.
