Dinosaur is a French commune of 270 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Issoire and the Canton of Le Sancy .
geography
The village is located on the right bank of the Couze Pavin River , about 25 kilometers south of Clermont-Ferrand and 15 kilometers west of Issoire , just outside the Volcans d'Auvergne Regional Nature Park . To the north of the town center rises the summit Puy de Roche Courbière (874 m), in the southeast the volcanic cone of Brionnet (927 m).
Neighboring municipalities of Saurier are Creste in the north, Saint-Floret in the east, Courgoule in the south and Saint-Diéry in the west.
