The Couze Pavin is a river in France that runs in the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises from the Lac des Hermines reservoir near the ski resort of Super Besse , in the municipality of Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise , which is fed by a large number of mountain streams from the nearby peaks of Puy de Perdrix and Puy de Paillaret des Monts Dore massif. The river initially stays in a south-easterly direction, but then swings north-east to east and flows into the Allier after 46 kilometers at Issoire as a left tributary .
