Tony Sharpe

Tony Sharpe (actually Anthony Sharpe; born June 28, 1961 in Kingston ) is a former Canadian sprinter of Jamaican origin.

At the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982 , he was sixth over 100 m and 200 m . As a starting runner in the 4 x 100 meter relay , he won the silver medal together with Ben Johnson , Desai Williams and Mark McKoy .

In 1983 he reached the semi-finals at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki over 100 m and was sixth over 200 m at the Pan American Games in Caracas .

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Sharpe was used in second position in the Canadian 4-by-100-meter relay. Together with Ben Johnson, Desai Williams and Sterling Hinds , he won the bronze medal behind the teams from the United States and Jamaica. Over 100 m he finished eighth while he was eliminated in the quarter-finals over 200 m.

In 1982 he was Canadian champion over 100 m and 1984 over 200 m.

After the end of his career Sharpe admitted to his playing days with anabolic steroids doped to have.

Tony Sharpe is 1.78 m tall and weighed 73 kg at competition times. He attended Clemson University .
