Le Vernet-Chaméane is a French municipality with 808 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Issoire and the canton of Brassac-les-Mines .
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by amalgamating the previous municipalities of Vernet-la-Varenne and Chaméane , which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are in Vernet-la-Varenne.

geography
The municipality is located around 17 kilometers southeast of Issoire in the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park . Neighboring municipalities are: Saint-Quentin-sur-Sauxillanges in the north, Saint-Genès-la-Tourette in the northeast, Saint-Germain-l'Herm in the southeast, Sainte-Catherine and Champagnat-le-Jeune in the south, La Chapelle-sur- Usson and Bansat in the southwest and Saint-Étienne-sur-Usson in the northwest.
