Valz-sous-Châteauneuf is a French commune in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ) with 51 inhabitants (as at 1st January 2017). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Issoire and the canton of Brassac-les-Mines ( Jumeaux until 2015 ). The inhabitants are called Castelvalzois .

Valz-sous-Châteauneuf is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Champagnat-le-Jeune in the north and north-west, Peslières in the east and north-east, Saint-Martin-d'Ollières in the south and south-east, and Saint-Jean-Saint-Gervais in the south and west.
