The Canton Blesle was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Brioude in the Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Brioude District". With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Brioude.

The canton bordered in the north on the cantons Ardes and Saint-Germain-Lembron in the Arrondissement Issoire in the department Puy-de-Dôme , in the east on the cantons Auzon , Brioude-Nord and Brioude-Sud , in the south on the canton Lavoûte-Chilhac and to the west to the canton of Massiac in the arrondissement of Saint-Flour in the Cantal department .
