The canton Brioude-Nord was a French canton in the arrondissement Brioude in the Haute-Loire department in the Auvergne region until 2015 .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Brioude District".

With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Brioude.

geography

The canton bordered on the north with the canton Auzon , in the east with the canton Paulhaguet , in the south with the canton Brioude-Sud and in the west with the canton Blesle .

The city of Brioude was only with its northern part in the canton. However, the total number of residents is given here. The southern part belonged to the canton Brioude-Sud .
