The canton of Langeac was a French canton in the arrondissement Brioude in the Haute-Loire department in the Auvergne region until 2015 .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Brioude District".

With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Brioude.

geography

The canton bordered the canton Paulhaguet to the north, the cantons Allègre and Loudes to the north-east and east, and the canton Saugues to the south , all three in the arrondissement of Le Puy-en-Velay , the canton of Pinols to the southwest and the canton to the northwest Canton Lavoûte-Chilhac .
