The canton of Bas-en-Basset is a French constituency in the Arrondissement Yssingeaux in Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhone-Alpes in France . Joseph Chapuis ( DVD ) has been a representative in the General Council of the département since 2001 .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Yssingeaux District".
With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the Yssingeaux arrondissement.
From September 10, 1926 to June 1, 1942, the canton belonged to the Arrondissement of Le Puy-en-Velay .

geography
The canton borders in the north on the canton Saint-Bonnet-le-Château in the arrondissement Montbrison in the Loire department , in the north-east on the canton Aurec-sur-Loire , in the east and south-east on the canton Monistrol-sur-Loire , in the south on the Canton of Retournac and in the west to the Canton of Craponne-sur-Arzon .
