The District of La Chaise-Dieu was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Brioude in the Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Brioude District".
With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Brioude.

The canton bordered in the north on the canton Arlanc in the arrondissement Ambert in the department Puy-de-Dôme , in the east on the canton Craponne-sur-Arzon in the arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay , in the south on the canton Allègre , also in the arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay, in the west to the canton Paulhaguet and in the north-west to the canton Auzon .
