The Canton of Fay-sur-Lignon was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay in the Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne in France .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District of Le Puy".
With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Le Puy.

The canton bordered in the north on the cantons of Yssingeaux and Tence in the arrondissement of Yssingeaux , in the east and southeast on the cantons of Saint-Agrève and Saint-Martin-de-Valamas in the arrondissement of Tournon-sur-Rhône in the Ardèche ( Rhône-Alpes ) department, in South to the canton of Montpezat-sous-Bauzon in the Arrondissement Largentière , also Département Ardèche, to the west to the canton of Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille and to the north-west to the canton of Saint-Julien-Chapteuil .
