The District of Saint-Germain-l'Herm was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Ambert , in Puy-de-Dôme and the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; its capital was Saint-Germain-l'Herm . Dominique Giron was the last representative in the General Council of the Département from 2004 to 2015. The canton was 211.94 km² and had 2,223 inhabitants (2006), which corresponds to a population density of 10.5 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 940 meters above sea level , between 591 m in Condat-lès-Montboissier and 1208 m in Chambon-sur-Dolore .
