The Canton Pionsat was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Riom in the Puy-de-Dôme and the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; its main place was Pionsat . Laurent Dumas was the last representative in the General Council of the Department from 2011 to 2015. The canton was 165.24 km² and had (1999) 2,517 inhabitants, which corresponded to a population density of 15 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 580 meters above sea level , between 359 m in Château-sur-Cher and 803 m in La Cellette .
