Saint-Hilaire is located about 52 kilometers north-west of Riom and about 62 kilometers north-west of Clermont-Ferrand . Saint-Hilaire is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Fargeol in the north, Pionsat in the north and east, Saint-Maigner in the east and south-east, Bussières in the south, Saint-Maurice-près-Pionsat in the south and south-west, and Château-sur-Cher in the West and Saint-Marcel-en-Marcillat in the north-west.
