Herment is a French municipality with 245 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Riom in the canton of Saint-Ours .

history

In 1140 Count Robert III. of Auvergne build a castle around which the village developed. The castle was occupied by English mercenaries from 1367 to 1369. At the beginning of the 15th century, Herment was surrounded by a city wall, which was in such poor condition as early as 1434/35 that a new wall was built.
