Konrad Költer (* around 1465 in Eppingen ) was the rector of the Heilbronn Latin School from 1492 to 1527 . He is considered a promoter of humanism in the imperial city of Heilbronn and produced important students.

His exact date of birth is not known. He grew up in Eppingen and attended the local Latin school . He enrolled at the University of Heidelberg on January 8, 1480 , which he left the following year as a baccalaureate . In 1489 he was enrolled again at Heidelberg University to take his master's degree. Then he came to Heilbronn, where he was mentioned as a witness in the schoolhouse in 1489 and married the widow of councilor Peter Kistenmacher in 1491. In 1492, Költer was appointed the fourth rector of the Heilbronn Latin School by the Heilbronn City Council. When the school in Heilbronn ceased during the plague wave of 1493, Költer continued his education in Heidelberg . During his stays in Heidelberg, Költer became familiar with the ideas of humanism , the spirit of which under Költer also moved into the Heilbronn Latin School, which gained importance beyond the city. Among the students in Költer's 35-year term in office were the later botanist Leonhart Fuchs and the four later reformers Philipp Melanchthon , Johannes Oekolampad , Erhard Schnepf and Johann Lachmann .
