Messeix is a French commune with 1,045 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Riom and the canton of Saint-Ours (until 2015: canton of Bourg-Lastic ).

Messeix is about 46 kilometers west-southwest of Clermont-Ferrand . Messeix is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bourg-Lastic in the north, Saint-Sulpice in the northeast, Avèze in the east, Singles in the south and southeast, Savennes in the south and southwest, Merlines in the west and Monestier-Merlines in the northwest
The following rivers form the municipal boundary:
- Dordogne in the southeast,
- Chavanon in the west and partly in the north, as well
- Clidane in the north.
The A89 autoroute runs through the municipality .
