Volvic is a French municipality with 4487 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Riom and there in the canton of Châtel-Guyon .
The mineral water of the same name , which is now sold by the Danone Group, comes from Volvic . Another local industry is the mining of the black volcanic rock trachyandesite .
geography
The municipality of Volvic is located on the northeastern edge of the Massif Central , about 14 kilometers north-north-west of Clermont-Ferrand and 44 kilometers south-west of Vichy . The territory of the 27.78 km² community extends from the 988 m high Puy de la Nugère in the west to the edge of the protected rift valley of the Limagne in the east. The districts of Tournoël, Crouzol, Le Lac, Les Riaumes, Viallard, Moulet-Marcenat, Luzet, Le Cratère and Tourtoule belong to Volvic . Neighboring municipalities of Volvic are Enval in the northeast, Malauzat in the east and southeast, Sayat in the south, Chanat-la-Mouteyre and Saint-Ours in the southwest and Charbonnières-les-Varennes in the west and northwest.
