history
Manzat is on the Roman road that connected Riom to Évaux-les-Bains . The place was called Amanziaco in 1163 and then Manzac in 1392 .
A district of Manzat is Le Bouchet (also called Vauluisant); here is the Cistercian abbey Le Bouchet-Vauluisant , which was founded in 1192 in the filiation of Morimond by Robert IV , Count of Auvergne , for monks from Val-Honnête . The abbey temporarily became the burial place of the Counts of Auvergne (for example Robert VII , John I , Guy de Boulogne ).
