Randan Castle

The origin of the Randan Castle goes back to the year 1204. It was built by Beaudoin de Randan on the foundations of a former 6th century monastery.

In 1821 Madame Adélaïde d'Orléans , sister of the citizen-king Louis-Philippe I , bought the castle and had it completely renovated by the well-known architect Pierre-François-Léonard Fontaine . Randan is the last royal estate to be built in France and one of the few to be found in the province.

On the night of July 24th to 25th, 1925, Rand Castle fell victim to a fire. The circumstances of the fire were never fully clarified. In the 10 hectare park you can still discover the remains of the castle, the spacious kitchen facilities, the chapel and the orangery . It is planned to restore the castle.
