Saint-Jacques-d'Ambur is located about 27 kilometers northwest of Clermont-Ferrand . The Sioulet , its reservoir and the Sioule limit the municipality in the north. Saint-Jacques-d'Ambur is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Ancizes-Comps in the north and northeast, Chapdes-Beaufort in the east, Montfermy in the southeast, La Goutelle in the south and Miremont in the west.
