Charensat is a French municipality with 506 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Riom and the canton of Saint-Éloy-les-Mines (until 2015: canton of Saint-Gervais-d'Auvergne ).

Charensat is about 38 kilometers west-northwest of Riom and about 41 kilometers northwest of Clermont-Ferrand . Charensat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Vergheas and Roche-d'Agoux in the north, Espinasse in the northeast, Biollet in the east, Miremont in the southeast, Villosanges in the south, Montel-de-Gelat in the southwest, Dontreix in the west and Charron in the northwest.
