Saint-Bonnet-près-Riom is a French commune with 2,114 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Riom and the canton of Riom (until 2015: canton of Riom-Est ). The inhabitants are called Brayauds .

Saint-Bonnet-près-Riom is located on the Limagne about 16 kilometers north-northeast of Clermont-Ferrand . Saint-Bonnet-près-Riom is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Davayat in the north, Cellule in the northeast, Pessat-Villeneuve in the east, Riom in the south, Châtel-Guyon in the west and Yssac-la-Tourette in the northwest.
On the eastern edge of the municipality, the A71 autoroute leads through the municipality the former route nationale 144 (today's D2144).
