Virlet is a French municipality with 272 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Riom and the canton of Saint-Éloy-les-Mines (until 2015 Montaigut ).

geography

Virlet is located in the Combraille landscape in the north of the Massif Central , about 30 kilometers south-southeast of Montluçon . The neighboring communities are Ronnet in the north, La Crouzille in the east, Le Quartier in the south-east, Pionsat in the south, Saint-Fargeol in the south-west and Marcillat-en-Combraille in the west.
