The Canton Tauves was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Issoire in the Puy-de-Dôme and the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; his main town was Tauves , representative in the General Council of the Département was last from 2002 to 2015, re-elected in 2008, Christophe Serre. The canton was 159.80 km² and had 2,817 inhabitants (1999), which corresponded to a population density of 18 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 814 meters above sea level , between 520 m in Larodde and 1,328 m in Saint-Sauves-d'Auvergne .
