The Canton Herment was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Clermont-Ferrand in the Puy-de-Dôme and the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; his main town was Herment , the last representative in the General Council of the Département was from 1988 to 2015, last re-elected in 2008, Jean-Claude Fournier. The canton was 127.21 km² and had 1,077 inhabitants (2006), which corresponded to a population density of 8 inhabitants per km². It was on average at 779 meters above sea level , between 654 m in Sauvagnat and 1,012 m in Prondines .
