Gerzat is a French municipality with 10,365 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and is the capital of the canton of the same name .
geography
Gerzat is a banlieue in the north of Clermont-Ferrand in the middle of the Limagne plain on the Bedat river and at the feet of the Chaîne des Puys . Gerzat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ménétrol in the north, Saint-Beauzire in the northeast, Malintrat in the southeast, Clermont-Ferrand in the south, and Cébazat in the west.
