Authezat is a French municipality with 679 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand and the canton of Les Martres-de-Veyre (until 2015: canton of Veyre-Monton ).

geography

Authezat is about 18 kilometers south-southeast of Clermont-Ferrand . The Allier limits the community in the east. Authezat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Corent in the north, Vic-le-Comte in the east, Montpeyroux in the south and south-east, Plauzat in the south-west and La Sauvetat in the west.

The A75 autoroute runs through the municipality . The commune is part of the Côtes d'Auvergne wine-growing region .

history

Until 1872, the now independent communities Authezat and La Sauvetat formed the community Authezat-la-Sauvetat .
