The Jauron is a river in France that runs in the Puy-de-Dôme department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises in the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park , in the northern municipal area of Isserteaux , drains after a loop in the source area generally in a north-westerly direction and flows after about 30 kilometers at the municipal boundary of Beauregard-l'Évêque and Les Martres-d'Artière as a right tributary in the Allier . In its lower reaches the Jauron crosses the Clermont-Ferrand-Saint-Just-sur-Loire railway .

The river changes its name several times in its course:

  • Ruisseau de Ribeyres in the source area,
  • Ricochet in the upper reaches,
  • Madet in the middle part and
  • Jauron in the lower reaches.
