The Brunton Park is a football stadium in Carlisle in northern England . Here in the club's own stadium, the Carlisle United football club welcomes its opponents to the games. It has four auditoriums and seats 18,202 visitors.
history
Construction on Brunton Park began in 1909 and was completed that year. Carlisle United's first game at New Stadium took place on September 2, 1909; it ended with Newcastle United beating the Cumbrians 2-0 . The Pioneer Foods stand in the east is the venue's youngest visitor. In it is u. a. an entrance hall, a shop, restaurants and bars and a betting office . At the northern end of the grandstand there are seats for the guest fans; For safety reasons, spaces for separation remain free. The middle part of the Main Stand was built in 1954; the two outer parts followed later. The lower part is called the paddock and has standing room. The upper part is divided into smaller seating blocks. In the middle of the upper part is the press stand. The Warwick Road End is a traditional English standing room with three gable roofs next to each other and roof supports in the spectator area. The Waterworks End is a standing rank, is reserved for fans of the opposing team and is completely uncovered compared to the other ranks.
In mid-November and early December 2015, Cumbria was flooded after heavy rainfall. This also affected Brunton Park as it is close to the Petteril and Eden Rivers . The venue was under water and the lawn was three-quarters flooded. It was even worse a short time later in early December with the rains of Storm Desmond , when the stadium and its surroundings were under water. Brunton Park was flooded in previous years such as 2004 and 2009.
Visitor record and average attendance
The attendance record dates back to 1957. 27,500 spectators came to Brunton Park for the FA Cup game of the third round on January 5th between Carlisle United and Birmingham City . Thirteen years later on February 7, 1970, that record was set. The FA Cup 5th round game between Carlisle United and Middlesbrough FC drew 27,500 visitors to the stadium.
