history

Games

Prenton Park was the venue for an international competition only once. On July 22, 1998 there was the UEFA Cup first leg between the Shelbourne FC from Dublin and the Glasgow Rangers , as the clubs feared riots by the rival fan groups due to the denominational background of the two teams. The game was rated as a home game for Shelbourne and ended 5-3 for the Rangers. As there were problems with the Rangers' supporters during the game, they had to face a fine of CHF 25,000 imposed  by UEFA . (approx. € 16,500).

The worst capacity utilization of the stadium, however, was in 1984 in a game against Halifax Town, which only 937 people watched.
