Stadium plan

The broadhall way (through sponsorship deal officially Lamex Stadium ) is a football stadium in the English town of Stevenage , Hertfordshire . The team of FC Stevenage (nickname: The Boro ) plays their home games here. In January 2009, the stadium received the sponsor name The Lamex Stadium after the Lamex Food Group . The sporting home of the Boro offers a total of 7,100 places; there are 3,412 seats.

history

In 1976, the football club Stevenage Borough (since 2010: Stevenage FC) was founded after the Stevenage Athletics were dissolved. The Athletics played their games on Broadhall Way since 1961 ; at the time it was nothing more than a fenced football field. The new club couldn't play on Broadhall Way because the city had sold the property to a businessman. In the late 1970s, the city bought the stadium back and renovated it. Stevenage Borough then moved into the old Athletics stadium and took part in the United Counties Football League in 1980, which they completed first. After further athletic advancement over the years, Stevenage Borough reached the Football Conference . Two years later, Borough was first eight points ahead of Woking FC and made it to the Football League Third Division . Since the stadium did not meet the requirements (6,000 seats, including 1,000 seats) of the Football League; the club remained in the Football Conference.

Over the years, the venue has been renovated. The stadium now has four covered stands. The main grandstand in the west is equipped with seats, glazed offices and boxes . On the back straight on the east side, the grandstand is a standing room; it is used by home fans. The seven-tier north stand with 700 seats is also reserved for home fans. Three quarters of the standing room are covered and open at the east end. In 2001 the South Stand added a roof-integrated scoreboard for £ 600,000 and private parking. The guest fans find their seats in the grandstand and it contains a computer learning center. For the 2007/08 season, a new floodlight system with four masts was installed in the corners.

The renovation of the venue should continue. In April 2011, the club published a computer-animated picture of a new north stand; to win potential donors for the construction. The rank is said to have 2,000 seats and cost a total of £ 1.25 million. Half of that will come from the Football Foundation's Football Stadia Improvement Fund . Club chairman Phil Wallace hopes that construction can start in 2012. When donors can be found earlier; construction would start earlier.

Average attendance and visitor record

On January 25, 1998, 8,040 fans came to the stadium for the fourth round match in the 1997/98 FA Cup between Stevenage FC and Newcastle United (1-1).
