Quézac ( Occitan : Quesac ) is a French municipality with 339 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (2015 Auvergne ). The municipality is part of the Aurillac arrondissement and the Châtaigneraie Cantalienne municipal association founded in 2017 . The inhabitants are called Quézacais .
geography
The municipality of Quézac is located in the west of the Massif Central , about 36 kilometers southwest of Aurillac and 27 kilometers northeast of Figeac . The 16.43 km² large municipal area shows a mixture of woodless plateaus and partly deeply cut wooded river valleys. To the west of the commune, the Veyre river forms the border with the Lot department and the Occitania region . The municipality of Quézac includes the village of Quézac (at 470 meters above sea level) the villages of La Majoufle (550 m), Trins (538 m), La Vente (562 m), Puech de Trins (551 m), Lacout (520 m ). La Thénardie (535 m). Garrissou (578 m), La Grasserie (570 m), La Garrouste (590 m), La Vitarelle (547 m), La Pradelle (525 m). Le Vert (500 m), Carays (480 m), Junhac (515 m), Vielquézac (540 m), Sournac (532 m), La Peyralbe (494 m), Le Bruel (451 m), Bedou (455 m) , Les Escouroux (450 m) and Dèzes (449 m) as well as many other hamlets and individual farms. Quézac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rouziers in the north, Saint-Julien-de-Toursac in the east, Saint-Étienne-de-Maurs in the south-east, Maurs in the south, Saint-Cirgues in the west and Lauresses and Saint-Hilaire in the north-west.
Place name
When the municipality was founded in 1793, the place was called Quezac , from 1801 the place name was written with Accent aigu Quézac .

Economy and Infrastructure
In the rural municipality of Quézac there are over 30 mostly small farms (almost exclusively cattle and dairy farming). With the exception of a few holiday homes, tourism is underdeveloped.
The RN 122 from Aurillac to Figeac runs through the municipality of Quézac . The nearest train station is about five kilometers south in the municipality of Maurs on the railway line from Figeac to Arvant .
