The Canton Maurs is a French constituency in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It is located in the Aurillac arrondissement of the Cantal department . His bureau centralisateur is in the municipality of Maurs .

history

The canton was established on February 15, 1790 as part of what was then the "District d'Aurillac". With the establishment of the arrondissements on October 19, 1801, the canton was assigned to the arrondissement Aurillac and redesigned. From 1801 to 2015, fourteen municipalities belonged to the canton of Maurs. The canton was enlarged on March 22, 2015 as part of the reorganization of the cantons. In addition to the 14 municipalities of the old canton of Maur, five additional municipalities were added: four from Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat and one from Aurillac-2 . Therefore, since 2015 the canton of Maurs has nineteen municipalities. Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 1510.

Elections to the Council of the Cantal Department

In the elections on March 22, 2015, none of the five candidate pairs achieved a majority of votes. The team Dominique Beaudrey / Joël Lacalmontie ( UD ) won the 2nd ballot against Jeanine Hercouët-Testa / Christian Montin ( DVG ) and Catherine Lehours / François Vermande (Divers) with a share of the vote of 55.91% (turnout: 62.99%) ).
