The canton of Aurillac-4 was a French canton in the Cantal department and in the then Auvergne region until 2015 . It comprised ten parishes and districts in the arrondissement of Aurillac ; its main town (French: chef-lieu ) was Aurillac .

history

The canton was created on July 23, 1973 as one of four cantons that replaced the cantons Aurillac-Nord and Aurillac-Sud in the area of ​​Aurillac and its surroundings. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons finally resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.

The canton bordered in the north on the former cantons Salers in the arrondissement Mauriac and Murat in the arrondissement Saint-Flour , in the east on the canton Vic-sur-Cère , in the south on the canton Arpajon-sur-Cère , in the southwest on the cantons Aurillac- 1 , Aurillac-3 and Jussac , in the northwest to the canton of Saint-Cernin .
