The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Aurillac and the canton of Vic-sur-Cère . The inhabitants are called Badailhacois .

Badailhac belongs to the historic region of Carladès and is located about 17 kilometers east of the city center of Aurillac . Badailhac is surrounded by the neighboring municipality of Vic-sur-Cère in the north, Jou-sous-Monjou in the northeast, Raulhac in the east and southeast, Cros-de-Ronesque in the south, Carlat in the southwest, Saint-Étienne-de-Carlat in the west as well Polminhac in the northwest.
