Attractions

Church Saint-Victor
  • The Romanesque parish church of Saint-Victor was possibly a priory church of the Abbey of Saint-Géraud of Aurillac. The broad west tower with its bell gable ( clocher mur ) follows the style of several buildings in Carladès (cf. Thérondels et al.). The Gothic archivolt portal is a later addition. While the nave was redesigned later, the polygonal apse could still be part of the original building. The west facade and apse of the church have been recognized as a monument historique since 1927 .
  • A wayside cross from the 16th century stands next to the church. It has also been classified as a Monument historique since 1971 .
  • The Pesteils Castle with its mighty keep ( donjon ) originates from the 14th century; In the 17th century the residential wing ( corps de logis ) was added. However, its current condition largely corresponds to the restoration measures of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The imposing building is privately owned and was classified as a Monument historique in 1994 .
Château de Vixouzes
  • Vixouze Castle ( 44 ° 56 ′ 26 ″  N , 2 ° 35 ′ 37 ″  E ), southeast of Polminhac, has a long building history that goes back to the 13th century. Originally there was only one keep within an enclosure wall; all other buildings are ingredients of later owners. The building complex has been recognized as a monument historique since 2000 .
  • Three other castles in the municipality are also worth mentioning: the Château de la Cavade from around 1600 (restored in the 19th century) in the north and the Château de Clavières (around 1850) and the Château des Huttes (around 1800) in the southeast . All three are privately owned and cannot be viewed.
