The Pesteils Castle ( French Château de Pesteils ) is in the French municipality of Polminhac in the Cantal region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .

The castle was classified as a monument historique on July 18, 1994 and thus placed under monument protection. The interior is also a listed building. The murals "The Five Senses" in the Great Salon, which the painter Félix Tourdes (1855–1920) created between 1901 and 1911, were listed on March 28, 1980.

In 1942, the castle served as the backdrop for the French film L'Éternel Retour (German: The Eternal Bann ) with Madeleine Sologne and Jean Marais . The castle can be visited as part of castle tours.

location

The castle sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the village of Polminhac and the Cère valley . The oldest part of the castle is a donjon , the central defense tower with a height of 40 meters, which was built in the Middle Ages at the beginning of the Hundred Years War .
