Le Rouget is a town and commune Déléguée in French Cantal in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The municipality , which existed until January 1, 2016, belonged to the Arrondissement of Aurillac and the canton of Saint-Paul-des-Landes . It was merged with Pers to form the Commune nouvelle Le Rouget-Pers by a decree of December 4, 2015 . The municipality marker at an average of 600 meters above sea level covered 8.23 km². Neighboring communities were Pers in the northwest, Omps in the northeast, Saint-Mamet-la-Salvetat in the southeast, Cayrols in the south, Parlan in the southwest and Roumégoux in the west.
