The Arrondissement Moulins is an administrative district in the Allier in the French region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The main town ( sub-prefecture ) is Moulins .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Allier department, a District de Moulins was also founded, although it was smaller than the current arrondissement. The district was expanded with the establishment of the Arrondissements on February 17, 1800 and founded as the Arrondissement Moulins.
On September 10, 1926, parts of the Gannat arrondissement, which had been dissolved at the time, were added.

The arrondissement borders in the northwest with the arrondissement Saint-Amand-Montrond in the department Cher (Region Center-Val de Loire ), in the north with the arrondissement Nevers in the department Nièvre , in the east with the arrondissement Charolles in the department Saône-et-Loire , in South to the Arrondissement of Vichy and to the west to the Arrondissement of Montluçon .

The eponymous capital, Moulins, is the largest municipality in the arrondissement with 19,664 inhabitants, followed by Yzeure with 13,088 inhabitants (both as of January 1, 2017).
Reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017
As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the 3 municipalities Chezelle , Monestier and Target from the Arrondissement Moulins were assigned to the Arrondissement Vichy . The municipality of Chassenard moved from the arrondissement of Vichy to the arrondissement of Moulins.
