economy
For centuries, the inhabitants of Saint-Plaisir, who were mostly dependent on the monastery, lived as self-sufficient farmers from agriculture, which also included viticulture; in addition there were regional retail trade and handicrafts. During the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century came the viticulture temporarily ground to a halt, but are now being produced again red, rosé and white wines on the appellation de Val Loire ' are marketed. Some of the vacant houses in the village have been converted into holiday apartments ( gîtes ).
history
Little is known about the history of the place. It was on a Roman road that connected today's Bourbon-l'Archambault ( Aquae Bormonis ) with Bourges ( Avaricum ), but so far hardly any archaeological traces from this time have been discovered in the municipality.
From the early Middle Ages, the existence of a small is Benedictine Congregation narrated that the Priory of Souvigny was assumed. The name Sancti Placidi is mentioned in a document in 1300 ; the current place name appears for the first time in 1403. On August 6, 1944, ten young Resistance fighters were shot dead by the German Wehrmacht - a memorial stone ( Stèle de la Bouillole ) commemorates this.

The parish church of Sainte-Plaçide is a rather large building with three naves , but originally only had a square apse from the 12th century. The belfry above the last church above the yoke of the central nave, with its squat-looking bell tower added in the 13th century , lacks any decorative elements - apart from the deeply staggered late Romanesque archivolt portal . The central nave is vaulted with a pointed barrel ; the side aisle yokes have groined vaults . In the 14th century the apse received two side chapels. The church building was recognized as a monument historique in 1926 .
