Monétay-sur-Loire is a French commune with a population of 264 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Moulins and the canton of Dompierre-sur-Besbre .

geography

Monétay-sur-Loire is about 48 kilometers northeast of Vichy and about 43 kilometers east-southeast of Moulins . Despite the name, the municipality is not on the Loire. Monétay-sur-Loire is surrounded by the neighboring communities Saligny-sur-Roudon in the north and west, Coulanges in the north and north-east, Le Pin in the east, Saint-Didier-en-Donjon in the south and Liernolles in the south and north-west.
