geography

Besson is located in the north of the Auvergne in the historic Bourbonnais province , about twelve kilometers south-southwest of the city center of Moulins . Besson is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Bressolles in the north and north-east, Chemilly in the east, Bresnay in the south, Cressanges in the west and south-west and Souvigny in the west and north-west.

Route nationale 79 runs through the municipality .
