Thiel-sur-Acolin is located about 19 kilometers east-southeast of Moulins in the Sologne Bourbonnaise region on the Acolin . Thiel-sur-Acolin is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chevagnes in the north, Beaulon in the northeast, Dompierre-sur-Besbre in the east, Saint-Pourçain-sur-Besbre in the southeast, Vaumas in the south and southeast, Chapeau in the southwest, Montbeugny in the west as well Lusigny in the northwest.
