The canton of Chevagnes was a French canton in the arrondissement of Moulins in the Allier department in the Auvergne region in France until 2015 . Its main town was Chevagnes .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then District de Moulins . With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was assigned to the new arrondissement Moulins and redesigned. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. His last two representatives in the conseil général des Départements were Jean-Marie Potin ( DVD ) from 1982 to 2007 and Alain Lognon ( PCF ) from 2007 to 2015 .

The canton bordered in the north on the canton of Fours in the arrondissement Château-Chinon in the department Nièvre ( Burgundy ), in the northeast on the canton Bourbon-Lancy in the arrondissement Charolles in the department Saône-et-Loire (Burgundy), in the southeast on the canton Dompierre- sur-Besbre , in the southwest to the canton of Neuilly-le-Réal , to the west to the canton of Yzeure and to the northwest to the canton of Moulins-Ouest .
