The canton Chantelle was 2015 a French canton of the arrondissement of Moulins in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne in France . The main town was Chantelle .
history
The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then District de Gannat . With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was assigned to the new arrondissement of Gannat and redesigned. On September 10, 1926, the Gannat arrondissement was dissolved and the canton was assigned to the Moulins arrondissement. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. His last representative in the conseil général des Départements was André Bidaud ( UDI ).

The canton bordered in the north on the canton of Le Montet , in the east on the canton of Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule , in the southeast and south on the cantons Escurolles and Gannat in the arrondissement of Vichy , in the southwest and west on the canton of Ébreuil in the arrondissement of Montluçon and in the northwest to the canton of Montmarault , also in the arrondissement of Montluçon.
