The canton of Lurcy-Lévis was 2015 a French canton of the arrondissement of Moulins in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne . It comprised nine parishes, its main town (French:  chef-lieu ) was Lurcy-Lévis . The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015. His last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Nicolas Thollet.

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then District de Cérilly . With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district of Cérilly was dissolved and the canton was assigned to the new arrondissement of Moulins and redesigned.

The canton bordered in the northwest on the canton of Sancoins in the arrondissement Saint-Amand-Montrond in the department Cher ( Center-Val de Loire ), in the northeast on the canton Saint-Pierre-le-Moûtier in the arrondissement Nevers in the department Nièvre ( Burgundy ), in South-east to the canton of Moulins-Ouest , to the south to the cantons of Souvigny and Bourbon-l'Archambault and to the west to the canton of Cérilly in the arrondissement of Montluçon .
