The canton Cérilly was 2015 a French canton of the arrondissement Montlucon in the department of Allier in the region Auvergne in France . It comprised 12 parishes, the main town was Cérilly .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then District de Cérilly . With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district was dissolved and the canton was assigned to the new arrondissement of Montluçon and redesigned. The nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons resulted in its dissolution in March 2015.

The canton bordered in the north on the canton Charenton-du-Cher in the arrondissement Saint-Amand-Montrond in the department Cher ( Center-Val de Loire ), in the east on the cantons Lurcy-Lévis and Bourbon-l'Archambault in the arrondissement Moulins , im South to the canton of Hérisson and to the west to the canton of Saulzais-le-Potier in the arrondissement of Saint-Amand-Montrond in the Cher department (Center-Val de Loiree).
