history

The Commentry Canton was originally created in 1859. The nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in 2015 resulted in a significant expansion from four to 24 municipalities. The four parishes before the reorganization were Colombier , Commentry , Hyds, and Malicorne with a total area of ​​64.43 km ² . Before 2015, the old canton had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 0305.
